Purpose of the role
We have a great opportunity for an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join our Finance team based at our head office in Solihull, B37 7YB. You will play a key role in supporting the financial performance of the business. This position will be responsible for the timely and accurate production of management accounts, providing valuable financial insight and business partnering support to operational and commercial teams. The successful candidate will help drive financial control, improve reporting processes, and ensure strong governance across the business while supporting strategic decision-making.
Main Responsibilities
The Management Accountant will oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss reporting, variance analysis, key performance indicators, and supporting commentary in line with reporting deadlines. You will be responsible for ensuring all costs are accurately captured and allocated across contracts and departments while maintaining compliance with company policies and financial governance procedures. The role will involve overseeing sales invoicing, purchase ledger activities, weekly payroll, and subcontractor payments to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. You will also support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and aged working capital reporting while liaising closely with commercial and operational managers to communicate financial risks and opportunities effectively. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will help develop and improve finance systems, promote best practice, and ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and internal controls. The role will also include supporting and supervising finance and administrative team activities where required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant or have a minimum of three years’ experience in a Management Accountant role, ideally within a construction or contracting environment. You will possess strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A proactive and flexible approach is essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of accounting principles, reporting systems, and financial governance. Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills are required, alongside the confidence to work collaboratively with operational teams and contribute positively to the continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting standards.
Package Description

- A salary between £45,000 and £55,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
